Many video game companies hand off their tax credit filing to their consultants during tax season, resulting in them discovering far too late that their project was ineligible. I work with your team during pre-production and production to structure your project to ensure your eligibility.

Using content I’ve developed from my OIDMTC Masterclass with Interactive Ontario, we will go through everything you need to know to get the best tax credit refund possible and identify additional funding opportunities on the way. Once tax season arrives, I assist with the submissions, review, and audits that go along with your applications.

I have acted as a Producer and Project Manager within agency and studio environments, giving me experience managing many different types of stakeholder relationships. I have extensive experience developing budgets and workback schedules, along with resource, risk and task management in software systems like Trello, Jira, Scoro, Asana and more.

I have a Project Management certificate from the University of Toronto and am currently working on my PMP certification. I have experience in agile methodologies like scrum, kanban, and sprints, as well as traditional waterfall project management.

I have a Journalism degree from Toronto Metropolitan University, and started in digital media as a content creator. I have written for blogs, website content, press releases, marketing copy, and grant content. I’ve also gotten press coverage in Forbes, Game Informer, and other outlets for my clients.

My research skills allow me to write on almost any topic, and adapt my voice and tone based on brand standards. I have experience with TikTok, Twitter, Facebook, Hootsuite, Mailchimp, WordPress and a variety other content management systems.

OIDMTC FAQs

As soon as you start your project! Things like your revenue streams, advertising, and release schedule affect whether your project will be eligible and whether all development costs can eligible for the tax credit. Hiring, roles, and time tracking also play a factor in eligible and how much you can claim.

I will go over my masterclass content with you that will include all you need to know while you are in production, and give you tools to track your project details that make the application process easier. I can work with you to adapt my toolset to fit in with your current tracking software and production processes.

You can only apply for OIDMTC once you have publicly launched an iteration of your project, so that can mean years of production before we can even get to the application phase. Once the project is launched and your fiscal year is complete, I can take 2-3 weeks to put your application together. Ontario Creates and CRA wait times can vary so it can be anywhere from 6 months to 18 months before you receive your funds.

I will be there every step of the way, responding to OC or CRA reviewers as their questions come up. I will also identify any areas of concern to anticipate issues before we submit your claim.
